 Ricky Pool Memorial Scholarship

Purpose

1.      To promote and develop the future of the beef industry in Halifax County, Virginia, as well as for the greater Virginia beef cattle industry.

2.      To provide financial support to students pursuing continuing education and have expressed a strong interest in the beef industry and in the Halifax County Cattleman’s Association.

 

Criteria

Up to Four (4) scholarships in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded on behalf of the Halifax County Cattleman’s Association. One of the four scholarships will be designated to a student in an ag-related area of study (trade schools included).

Individual applicants must be full-time students enrolled in, or who have been accepted, to a college curriculum or secondary education program (Undergraduate only). The applicant’s most recent official high school or college transcript must accompany the application. Membership in the Halifax County Cattleman’s Association is not required to be eligible for the scholarship; however, it is strongly encouraged.

The successful applicant agrees to have an article, and their picture published in the local press and Halifax County Cattleman’s Association social media pages.

 

Deadlines

Applications must be postmarked by April 30, 2025.

 Applications will be reviewed and screened by a committee appointed by the Halifax County Cattleman’s Association Board of Directors.

The scholarship award winner will be invited and announced during a regularly scheduled program throughout the year. Recipients must be present to accept the award.  When possible, award presentations will be made during the school’s award ceremony by an association member.
